The Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada was federally incorporated in 1983 in order to unite practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Canada. There are CMAAC Chapter offices all across Canada. The CMAAC became a member society of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies in 1987. The WFAS is the only Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture society officially recognized by the World Health Organization.
The CMAAC was established in order to unite practitioners and to lobby the government for regulation of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
The CMAAC's objectives include:
? Uniting practitioners of Eastern and Western Medicine.
? Establishment of high standards of education and training for practitioners.
? Promotion and attendance at international conferences.
? Assisting in the exchange of scientific research.
? Acting as an educational vehicle for the public.
The CMAAC has worked diligently to achieve a high standard for the profession since 1983. Due to the CMAAC's international reputation, members are able to purchase excellent Professional Liability Insurance. The CMAAC endorsed the establishment of a 4year training program in order to create a high standard of education for practitioners. The CMAAC has worked on regulation for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Ontario, British Columbia, and other provinces.
