Welcome to Gibson Chiropractic

Dr. Jean Gibson, M.S., D.C., opened Gibson Chiropractic in Fayetteville in 1993. She received her bachelor's degree from SMU in Dallas, and her master's degree specializing in exercise physiology from North Texas State University in Denton, TX.

A ruptured disc in her back in 1988 changed the course of Dr. Gibson's life and career goals. A neurosurgeon recommended back surgery but Dr. Gibson didn't want to have such an invasive procedure. She tried an alternative - chiropractic. She fully recovered and has no limitations, and now helps other avoid surgery.

She returned to school and earned a B.S. in anatomy and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker College in Dallas, in addition to receiving certification in acupuncture.

Dr. Gibson states, "My first experience with chiropractic care was when I saw my boss receiving an adjustment and I heard all the popping and cracking". She explains that most people assume, as she did, that bones are popping, when in fact it's carbon dioxide escaping from the joint capsule - similar to knuckles popping. This is totally harmless.

Chiropractic considers the body to be a whole natural organism that possesses its own healing capabilities. These capabilities may be interfered with when the spine is out of place. The movement or shifting of vertebrae creates local nerve pressure, which in turn may block the energy going through the system. This throws off the whole body. Dr. Gibson locates these subluxations using various diagnostic techniques. She combines adjusting techniques and myofascial trigger point therapy to relieve pain and joint dysfunction.

She also uses acupuncture in her practice quite successfully. "I use acupuncture to complement chiropractic in treating headaches, migraines, allergies, sinus problems, neck pain, should pain, and arthritis. Acupuncture also helps in weight loss and smoking cessation", says Dr. Gibson. "Acupuncture can help nearly anything because it will help balance energy and help the body fight whatever it needs to fight".

Dr. Gibson added Colon Hydrotherapy to her practice in 2002. Colonics cleanse the colon
by removing toxic material, which in turn improves the assimilation of nutrients.

Dr. Gibson added Sauna Therapy to her practice in 2007 through the use of a dry infrared sauna. Sauna Therpay helps to detoxify the body and has been shown to relieve joint and muscle pain as well.
