COURTENAY, BC - April 22, 2009 - Linda Parker, Owner/Operator of Good Vibrations, has discovered the fountain of youth at her local vibration exercise studio.
According to Parker, reports from clients who have performed exercises pre- and postsurgery using WAVE (Whole-Body Advanced Vibration Exercise) have been astounding.
"My business has really opened up to include rehab, pain management and post-surgery recovery."
Heidi Leus, 66, is one of Parker's success stories.
Leus resumed exercise using WAVE after six weeks post total hip replacement surgery. During this time, Leus sat in a chair with her feet exposed to the vibration plate, which elicits high-frequency, involuntary muscles contractions, increasing strength gains and recovery time.
After eight weeks post-surgery, Leus was able to perform full standing exercises on the WAVE.
"Her recovery has been so amazing," says Parker. "She is back to her regular exercise program here. She is back at her yoga classes, walking five to 10 km on her treadmill, three to four times per week, all on her physiotherapist's recommendation."
According to Leus, the WAVE has helped her improve her activities of daily living.
"I have regained flexibility comparable to two years prior to surgery. I am pain free. I credit the WAVE with my good health before surgery and my speedy recovery."
According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, the total number of hip and knee replacement procedures has rose 87 per cent over a 10 year period from 31,500 patients in 1994-1995 to more than 58,000 in 2004-2005.
